Welcome to the Sierra City Fire Protection District
Established in August 2001, the Sierra City Fire Protection District is dedicated to safeguarding life, property, and the natural beauty of Sierra County. We are a public safety agency providing fire prevention, fire protection, and disaster preparedness and relief.
Whether responding to emergency calls or helping mountain homeowners prepare for wildfire season, our team stands ready to serve.

- Disaster Preparedness & Relief: Access guidelines and emergency planning tips for winter weather, power outages, and wildfire evacuations.
- Home Safety Support: Guidance on smoke detector installation, home fire extinguishers, and seasonal burning regulations.

Governance & District Transparency
The Sierra City Fire Protection District operates with complete transparency under Sierra County jurisdiction. Day-to-day operations are managed by our Fire Chief, with oversight provided by an elected 5-member Board of Commissioners. The District has also been registered with the U.S. General Services Administration since October 1, 2009.
Board Meetings & Public Documents
Our Board of Commissoners meets regularly to discuss district policy, emergency readiness, facilities, and financial planning. Community attendance and feedback are always welcome. Meetings are held at the Community Hall at 14 Castagna Alley in Sierra City on the second Tuesday of each month.
